What’s Happening This March!

This March, we’re celebrating the women behind the scenes...

This March, in honour of International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating all women, and that includes the women behind the space. EventMrkt was founded by Samantha Buckley in 2019, when she transformed the space into the warm, welcoming event venue you know today (yes, our twinkling ceiling lights have been shining since day one). Since then, EventMrkt has been lucky enough to host countless weddings, bridal showers, birthday parties, and corporate events.

Not only do we get to celebrate our amazing female founder, but also our all-women team of event planners who bring each event to life. Sophie, Brittany, and Amanda are the ones behind the emails, timelines, room flips, and last-minute fixes, working behind the scenes to make sure every celebration feels effortless, personal, and just right.

Did you know Samantha is also the owner of Ghost Taco? Another local Newmarket favourite! Somewhere between running two businesses, cheering from the sidelines at dance recitals and sporting events, and giving back to the community (including competing in Dancing with the Stars in support of Easter Seals), Ghost Taco was born. With 5 locations in Newmarket, Peterborough, Whitby, Liberty Village, and Kingston, an exciting 6th is now on the way, opening in Barrie, Spring 2026!
